Definitely *Not* a Memoir

A Star is Bored by Byron Lane

I loved this book. I finished it on my drive into work and had literal tears running down my face because of it. It was funny and heartfelt while still showing the vulnerable side of the narrator and the star. The book begins by saying it is entirely a work of fiction and in no way shape or form is it related to his work with Carrie Fisher; I refuse to believe it. Some of it was exactly what you would expect Carrie Fisher to be like. Even it it's not true, if it's entirely made up, I still adored it. Her complicated relationship with her mother. Her struggle to find a new assistant once he finally quit. Her love for him that stayed even after he was gone, and showed up in how she responded to his boyfriend at her birthday party. All of it was poignant. I cannot recommend this book enough.
