Magic, War, and Family

The Jasmine Throne by Tasha Suri

The only thing I didn't like about this book was the constant POV changes. For the most part it stayed switching between the same few characters, but every now and then you would get a random character who died by the end of the chapter. And those random characters kept throwing me off. Priya is wonderful. I really liked the Regent, until the end; he seemed like he was genuinely trying to do the right thing. But then he refused to listen to his wife, because what does she know, and then he was surprised when she turned on him. Ashok never needed to be in charge of anything; he was entirely too hardheaded and reactionary. And while it was sad that he died, the correct person is leading them now. I like Malini and think she will be a good leader for her people, she was able to unite them easily since her older brother refused to. I cannot wait to read the next one!
